Why Uganda needs support

Bright kids. Real barriers.

More than half of Uganda's population is under 18. In communities like Namuwongo, children grow up surrounded by hunger, unstable housing, and the impossible choice between a meal and a school fee. The talent is everywhere. The opportunity isn't.

  • 30%of Ugandans live below the poverty line
  • 1 in 3of children drop out before completing primary school
  • $100USD — what a child's school tuition and support costs

Our story

A meal in Namuwongo changed everything.

We walked into Namuwongo expecting hunger. We left understanding hope.

We came with hot meals. Children lined up — quietly, patiently — and we served plate after plate. But when we sat with the parents afterwards, we didn't hear pleas for more food. We heard a different request, said over and over:

"Please — help our children stay in school."

That's the day With A Dollar became more than a feeding program. It became a school-supply drive, a tutoring circle, a tuition fund — built on the smallest gift anyone can give.
